The primary mission of the ‘Remembrance and Future’ Centre is to study, document, and promote the historical and cultural heritage created in Wrocław and Lower Silesia after the Second World War. Since the Centre’s establishment in 2007, a key element in achieving these statutory objectives has been our publishing activities. Each aspect of our mission is reflected in the publications we offer, including academic monographs, conference volumes, source publications, historical guides, educational materials, exhibition catalogues, albums, and even comic books.
An important area of the Centre’s publishing activities is academic publications. Our research interests primarily cover the following topics:
- The history of Poland since 1945 (with a particular focus on the Western and Northern Territories)
- Oral history
- History in the public space
- Reconciliation between nations after 1945 (with particular emphasis on Polish-German reconciliation)
- Anti-communist opposition in the Western and Northern Territories (with a particular focus on Lower Silesia)
Our publishing house is listed among those recognised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for publishing peer-reviewed academic monographs, which are awarded 80 points. Additionally, the ‘Wrocław Yearbook of Oral History’ has been classified among the top-rated journals on the Ministry of Education and Science list.

In the sphere of academic publishing, we are supported by the Academic Publishing Board, which includes Professor Waldemar Czachur, Dr Łukasz Kamiński, Professor Marta Kurkowska-Budzan, Professor Adam Makowski, Professor Grzegorz Strauchold, Professor Joanna Wojdon, along with the Deputy Director of the Centre for Research, the Head of the Research Department, and the Head of the Publishing Department. This advisory body evaluates our initiatives and offers guidance in running our regular competition for the publication of scholarly historical monographs.
The mission of the ‘Remembrance and Future’ Centre is driven by the belief that, to tell the story of Wrocław, we must act in a way that engages the widest possible audience. For this reason, our publishing offer includes numerous popular science publications, which help us to disseminate knowledge from our research areas more broadly.
The publishing team at the ‘Remembrance and Future’ Centre is committed to continuous development, ensuring adherence to the highest global publishing standards. This contributes to enriching both the academic and popular science book markets, as we strive to deliver high-quality content to scholars and history enthusiasts alike. At the same time, we work diligently to maintain the highest editorial and typographical standards in our publications.
