Who Are We?
The story of the ‘Remembrance and Future’ Centre is one of passion, dedication, and determination. It began in 2007 when the Centre was established as a state cultural institution by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Kazimierz Michał Ujazdowski. Since early 2009, the Centre has operated as a municipal institution of the city of Wrocław. On 21 March 2016, a co-management agreement for the Wrocław-based ‘Remembrance and Future’ Centre was signed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture Prof. Piotr Gliński, and Wrocław’s Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz. From that point onward, to preserve significant historical experiences, we have been listening to and recording the stories of individuals who, over 60 years ago, arrived in western Poland and laid the foundations of a new identity for these lands. These unique and invaluable testimonies form the basis for telling the recent history in a captivating and historically accurate manner.
These are the beginnings of the ‘Remembrance and Future’ Centre – a place dedicated to documenting and popularising knowledge about the post-war history of Wrocław and Lower Silesia.
